2019 YEAR – “YEAR OF NASIMI: 650 YEARS ANNIVERSARY OF THE GREAT AZERBAIJANI POET IMADEDDIN NASIMI, FROM WHICH EGYPT AUTHORITY REMOVED THE SKIN, AND HEAD AND FOOT TALKED
SULTAN OF THE COUNTRY.
Monuments of the country are a mirror of the spiritual culture of the people,
which formed and form in generations the right understanding of the
significance of historical and cultural heritage as public property, foster a
sense of ownership with the history of the people and their sovereign
country of Azerbaijan.
- TO REVIVE MONUMENTS OF HISTORY OF AZERBAIJAN.
From the very beginning of the presentation of this topic, I want to note that historical monuments concern not only my native Baku, but also the capitals of the countries of the world like Moscow, Kiev, London, Athena, Paris, Barcelona, Rome, New York, Copenhagen and many others. The introduction of this idea into our historical monuments will cause deep interest in them both the inhabitants of my country and its guests, whose unprecedented growth is growing every year.
What is my idea in the proposed topic of the article?
In the late 80s, in the wake of the born freedom of speech and expression, for the first time in the Soviet empire, I had the idea of reviving the beautiful monuments of my native Baku, as the capital of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as the idea of reviving the national traditions of the Azerbaijani people.
My goal is that the monuments should not be silent, but communicate with the people, and even more so with new generations in time, including visitors to the country. I sent this idea to Moscow and a couple of weeks later, to my surprise, received a notification from the All-Union Bank of Ideas of the Social Inventions Fund of the USSR with registration No. 1053 dated 10/28/1988 that: “Your idea has been entered into the computer bank of ideas of the Social Inventions Fund the USSR”. Therefore, my thoughts were justified and registered with the SIF of the USSR, which means it should be implemented in real life on the basis of historical monuments of the country.
At the same time, earlier in the Baku central newspaper VISHKA dated August 14, 1988, my article “Let the monuments remain silent” was published, the theme of which was also repeated later in the evening newspaper BAKU of 19.12.90.
I lived and grew up near the monuments of the outstanding historical figures of our people M.F.Akhundov, M.A.Sabir, Nizami and opposite him on the facade of the Nizami Museum. Passing by them, and further on other monuments of the city, I regretted that they, as if erected in honor of our prominent Azerbaijani poets, writers, composers and scientists, actually do not say anything about themselves and about their time. In addition, during the Soviet years, nothing was said in the school textbooks about them and their creative activities, including the real history of my country. However, I remember how my father, a major specialist in the country’s viticulture and graduated from the USSR Academy in Leningrad in the 1930s, arranged poetry evenings in the apartment with the participation of writers Samad Vurgun and Mehti Huseyn, as a neighbor in the yard, including Mammad Shikhly, as the father-in-law of the future writer Ismail Shikhly and other prominent figures of the country.
In order not to be unfounded, I will give an example of a picturesque square in the center of Baku as a monument to M.A.Sabir, near the fortress walls of Icheri Sheher and the Academy of Sciences of the Republic. On a marble rectangular pedestal sits, but previously stood, a man in a daddy and below is an inscription: “Mirza Alekper Sabir Taghizade” in Azerbaijani and his date of residence is 1862-1911. Naturally, who is well acquainted with the work of this prominent Azerbaijani poet and satirist, these marked lines say a lot. But if you think deeper and put yourself in the place of guests of our city and country, children, elementary school students and others who would not be interested to know: who is this person – a writer, historian, scholar, religious figure or composer? And for what merits did the people erect a monument to him? Will any of you be able to clearly and objectively answer this question?
Similarly, the monuments of the country’s great historical figures such as Nizami, Fizuli, Samed Vurgun, Uzeyir Hajibeyov, Kara Karaev and many others are “silent”, precisely as prominent figures in the history of our people and country.
- NASIMI – THE GREAT AZERBAIJANI POET, DEDICATED LIFE FOR HEALTHY OPEN THOUGHTS, AGAINST THE AUTHORITIES OF THE COUNTRY.
Moreover, the great coryphaeus of poetry Seyid Imameddin Nasimi (1369 – 1417), who wrote verses in three languages during the terrible years of the Middle Ages and the cruel laws of Sharia, from which they skinned and sent their heads and legs to the Sultan of Egypt, at the place of his execution. Peeling a person’s skin is an ancient practice, as one of the most painful forms of execution. It was used in France, England, and China from corrupt officials and rebels, including stripping the skin of faces from officials of bribe takers. In Europe, this execution disappeared in the XVIII century, and in China in 1911 after the Xinhai Revolution.
In Baku, the poet Nasimi was erected a monument only on June 12, 2012 in the city center at the intersection of Torgovoi and Samed Vurgun streets. The great poet Imadeddin Nasimi was from Shemakha, the capital of the sovereign state of the Shirvanshahs, which we did not even know about during the school years during the Soviet empire and its communist ideology. Undoubtedly, a large monument for Nasimi with lines of his poems on marble slabs around him should be erected in the city of Shemakha, possibly on a high mountain. During his years in Shemakha, Nasimi created a society of scientists (Majlis: ul-ulema) and musicians, in which talented people united. After the execution of his teacher Naimi, a Persian poet and philosopher of the Х1V century, he leaves Shirvan and goes to Turkey, Iraq and Syria to the city of Aleppo, which then belonged to Egypt, where he was overtaken by death for the rebellious by the nature of his thoughts against the authorities of the country, remaining true to his convictions to the end of his terrible execution.
The rhetorical question begs: what to do with “silent” monuments? Why don’t we make our monuments of the history of the country, depending on their activities, “talk”, “play” and “sing” about ourselves and our time? And at the same time, today’s material wealth at the level of an already sovereign country, not only in those 80s, completely allows them to be “revived” by the voices of poetry, novels, music and songs using visual video screens and a speaker about them at the level of modern science and technicians. And before they are introduced, it is enough to give the well-known lines of their poems by poets, as well as paragraphs of the writers’ works in three languages: Azerbaijani, Russian and English, on marble slabs arranged around their squares. To voice their modern installations are the works of our composers Uzeyir Hajibeyov, Kara Karaev and others, including the songs of the country’s great singers Khan Shushinsky, Bul Bul, Rashid Beibutov and others. And if necessary, their activity in Arabic is also noted on the marble slabs of the monuments, due to the massive annual influx of visitors to Baku from their countries.
In the public gardens with historical monuments of the country put kiosks selling their books, music video discs, postcards illustrating their personality and their achievements. Why not create evenings dedicated to their significant dates. Especially when, by the decree of President Ilham Aliyev, this year was declared the “Year of Nasimi” in honor of the 650th anniversary of the great poet Nasimi. At the same time, to carry out a musical stage for talented artists and amateurs based on works by persons of monuments in three languages, including awards that have distinguished themselves, regardless of their age. Why not create a marching cooperative teahouse in the national style with a charcoal samovar, including modern marching toilets? At the same time, create a platform for the best readers of poetry poems, works of writers, masterly performers of folk and modern songs in different languages. All this is achievable with the initiative of the authorities of Baku and the country.
It would be great if classical music lovers, not from anniversary to anniversary, as is customary with us, but regularly on Sundays, would gather at the monuments to Uzeyir Hajibeyov, Kara Karaev and others to listen to the beautiful works he created. It would be great to hear the live voices of Bul Bul, Rashid Beibutov, Muslim Magomayev, Shovket Alekperov, the mughams of Khan Shushinsky and many others.
Even in the difficult years of World War II, concerts were held in the philharmonic society and performances in theaters of Baku. I clearly remember how my father took me a preschooler to the performance of “Korogly” in the beautiful Baku Opera and Ballet Theater. On the left side of the stage, an actor suddenly appears on a large horse in the role of a historical folk hero, equipped with national military armor. He was the greatest singer of the country Bul Bul. He performed the beautiful aria of Korogly, the hero of the people from the tyranny of the authorities. After that, I visited operas more than once in Baku, in Moscow, in Berlin and in Copenhagen.
With these recollections, I suggest that in the clubs of Baku spend cultural evenings over a cup of tea, dedicated to the memory of our great figures, reading of their historical works. It is these evenings that are held by dignitaries and subtle lovers of poetry reading in London and New York, dedicated to the great Persian poet of the Xth-X1th centuries Omar Khayyam. At the same time, each of the speakers shows the art of reading his poetic poems – rubai and other poems, the strength and essence of which are still valid today. Let me give you one striking example from his quatrain of rubai:
“Talking with a fool, you can’t get rid of shame. Therefore, you listen to the advice of Khayyam. The poison offered to you by the sage, accept. From the hands of a fool do not take balm”.
At the same time, the great Azerbaijani poet Nasimi, originally from Shemakha, wrote:
“Both worlds will fit in me, but I cannot fit into this world. I am the essence, I have no place, and I cannot fit into being. All that was, is and will be, everything is embodied in me. Do not ask. Follow me I can’t fit into the explanation”.
In my article from 1988 above, I also noted, according to the time of “perestroika” in the country, that we should think about the revival of our national traditions forbidden by the Kremlin at the level of festivities in honor of the celebration of national holidays, using the example of “Novruz Bayrami”. Today it has become a tradition with the acquisition of real sovereignty of the country. This holiday is held annually, even for several days of March, at the level of mass walks with a bonfire in the beautiful ancient town of Icheri Sheher Baku and throughout the Republic. At the same time, the holiday is already held at the direct initiative of the Baku authorities, even with the participation of the President of the country and his family, which was not for all the years of 70 years in the “fraternal” Soviet empire. Whereas, the head of the Soviet empire, in the beginning of the 60s when he visited Baku, Nikita Khrushchev could not even pronounce the name of our country before the people from the rostrum of the Republican stadium. And another ruler of the empire, Leonid Brezhnev, in 1982, without going into the essence of the report, read 15 minutes at a high party meeting of the republic in the Palace, then named after Lenin. And only when his assistant approached him and noted that he was reading the wrong report, he jokingly told the assembled country workers in the hall that he “got into the wrong pocket.” As you can see, it was the “pocket”, and not its own head, that played a role in the thinking of the imperial authorities of the Kremlin, beginning in the 60s of the last century.
It follows that we all need to value the time of the sovereignty of the country and no one should trust anymore, as it was on the evening of January 19, 1990. Then personal representative of M. Gorbachev, a whale of the KGB empire, Yevgeny Primakov assured the people from the television screen of Baku that the Kremlin would not enter the country. So what? Exactly on the night of January 20, our people knew the bloody response of the Kremlin at the level of shot civilians of old people, women, youth and children, as a re-scenario in April of 1920 at the level of victims – Martyrs from Baku to the borders of Iran. And all this was done by the Kremlin in gratitude to how the people and oil workers of Baku became the saviors of the empire during the Second World War in the supply of 80 percent of high-quality fuel to the front for moving and flying military vehicles and the participation of more than 600 thousand citizens of the country. That is why, it is necessary to repeat in this article what exactly the oil workers of Baku, and according to the subject of this article, should erect a huge complex monument with an imitation of an oil fountain with a fire in the Caspian bay of our beautiful boulevard. To spend colorful evenings and mass celebrations in their honor, as the historical centuries old and eternal memory of our oil Baku.
By the way, November 7 this year marks the 70th anniversary of the birth in world practice of the historic town of Oil Rocks in the Caspian Sea, 110 km away. from the bay of Baku. Today it is already a beautiful oil town in the sea, which gave an impetus even at that time in building similar oil structures in the countries of the world, including the discovery by oil workers of Baku in the 60s of large oil and gas fields in the Siberian regions of the former Soviet empire. Unfortunately, the oil city was never awarded the title of Hero of the Patriotic War, although it was on the list of Heroes. This was done precisely by the insidious tricks of the again Armenian lobby in the Kremlin by high-ranking official Anastas Mikoyan. And then, and today, unfortunately, in the speeches of the Kremlin’s leaders, the historical role of Baku in the victory over fascism in Germany was not noted. It is the capital of our country, Baku, that remains to this day the dream of capturing external imperial forces, as the future oil hub of the five Caspian countries, as a region with a geostrategic and geopolitical border for the Continents of Europe and Asia.
What did the above say about the empire of the former USSR during the years of my life?
It is precisely to the fact that the Kremlin during the imperial Soviet years was interested precisely in our Republic, as a country of a reliable and rich donor of the empire in oil, gas, cotton and our other strategic natural resources. In turn, the Kremlin, however, gave us the richness and “value” of communist political directives, while forgetting both about creating and revitalizing our historical monuments for worthy figures of the country, and at the same time about our national traditions. It was the Kremlin that was to create a monument to the heroes of the oil workers of Baku, who played a significant role in the domestic war of the empire, as well as in the discovery of rich oil and gas deposits in the regions of severe frosty Siberia. The Kremlin has used and is currently using the puppet, insidious selling country of Armenia to revive the new empire of the 21st century, including the countries of the South Caucasus and, in particular, the oil Baku. I would also like to note that the project of a nuclear power plant proposed by Russia in the Baku region today is nothing more than a terrible time bomb, similar to Chernobyl, but of the 21st century, with radiation exposure on the population within the radius of the entire capital of the country, including its Caspian sea region to the oil sources of the sea and its valuable fish wealth .
It should also be noted on the subject of this article and on the time of the 21st century that it is time to recall the heroine of our national fairy tales about the beautiful Mermaid. This is similar to the world-famous Danish Mermaid, which for more than a hundred years has been majestically sitting on the basalt boulders of Copenhagen according to the tales of the great Danish writer G.Kh. Andersen. And therefore, we should create a sculpture of the Azerbaijani Mermaid in the sea on granite a hundred meters from the shore of the beautiful Baku boulevard, possibly with a path to it, when it appears from the bottom of the sea on sunny days, and at night with the colorful rays of the searchlight. The Baku Mermaid, like the Danish Mermaid in Copenhagen, will become a popular destination for our mass attendance and visitors to Baku.
The time of bitter emotions and applause of the former USSR has not passed yet in the days of the restoration of the sovereign borders of the country from the treacherous authorities of Armenia. Therefore, today, in unity with the authorities, we should act with high intelligence and wisdom, excluding the shedding of blood, in achieving the full settlement of our Republic at the level of our sovereign borders established by the UN from 1991, after the fall of the empire.
So, all of the above, including the wires of the Days of Literature and Art with the participation of tourists – guests of the country and broadcast on republican television, should be actively implemented. Only then do the countries of the world recognize the charm of our historic hospitable people and country.
In conclusion, I want to note that all of the above will allow us, on the one hand, to support and continue our national traditions in colorfully sophisticated performances and, on the other hand, to strengthen our international ties in true cooperation with the peoples of the world.
C.IN THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF THE SOVEREIGN AZERBAIJAN IS REQIRED BY NASIMI, WHO WELL DIRECTLY DIRECTED IDEAS ABOUT NAGORNO KARABAKH OF THE AZERBAIJAN WITH COLLEAGUES OF THE MINISTRER FA OF THE RF SERGEY LAVROV.
At the same time, I want to note in time that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan needs Nasimi of the 21st century, who could diplomatically besiege the Russian Foreign Minister’s colleague Sergey Lavrov with Armenian roots:
first, he’ll have his “wise” project on Nagorno-Karabakh to begin with, Azerbaijan would introduce, as doctors do, to a nationwide referendum on the legal international status of its 26 national regions, preserving its territorial integrity, including “historically” living “on its own” the legal lands of the ancient Armenian minority and,
secondly, that Nagorno-Karabakh-it was and is Azerbaijan with literate !!! time signs that grow daily like mushrooms. Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister S. Lavrov openly stated that four UN Security Council resolutions of 1993 on the withdrawal of the Armenian armed forces from occupied 20% of the territories and Nagorno-Karabakh of Azerbaijan have lost their meaning and strength. Thus, S. Lavrov acts as a dictator of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council, including Russia.
At the same time, the Kremlin considers Azerbaijan to be its reliable geostrategic partner in the South Caucasus region, unlike Armenia. How then to understand the policy of the Ministry of FA RF S.Lavrov regarding the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan without its Nagorno-Karabakh?
I end the article with the words of the great Azerbaijani poet Nasimi:
“Oh you, that I sought treasures among stones and metals,
More valuable than HUMAN treasures have never happened!”
The 600th anniversary of the great poet Nasimi was solemnly celebrated on the initiative of the former president of the country, Heydar Aliyev, and in 1973, UNESCO entered it on the list of significant events, which was noted at the international level. In honor of the anniversary of this year, Nasimi, exactly 650 thousand trees are planned to be planted in one day, which will undoubtedly improve the urgently needed ozone airspace for residents of Baku.
P.S. I advise readers of the article to watch the film “Nasimi (in Russian)” on the You Tube portal, including the song “Azerbaijan” by Muslim Magomayev.
